Confused? You Will Be!

without comments

Here in San Diego, Fox used to broadcast on channel 6, and the CW on channel 5. But thanks to some corporate shenanigans, they’ve swapped channel numbers. No big deal, except on Dish satellite TV, CW is on 6 and Fox is on 69, in both standard definition and high definition.

Reprogramming my DVR for this week’s So You Think You Can Dance final I was surprised to see that SYTYCD was not available in HD, only in SD. A little further investigation and, sure enough, the program guide lists America’s Top Model will be showing on the HD Fox instead of SYTYCD. Huh? So I emailed Dish about it and got the following response:

Thank you for your email. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and confusion caused by this issue. Unfortunately, CW is not available in HD which will be showing the programming. FOX is airing CW’s normal programming and CW is airing FOX’s. Because of the swap there have been programming changes. CW will be showing standard definition programming that used to air on FOX as HD

Ok, so that cleared that up!

Football Pool Update

without comments

Yes, I know there was never an initial post to update upon but that’s just a mere insignificant detail. So, anyway, despite knowing nothing (and wishing I didn’t even know that much) about the game I entered a college bowl football pool. $20 to get in and $680 to be shared amongst the winners. With 8 of the 32 games played I am surprisingly joint first with 7 correctly predicted, plenty more games for it all to come crashing down but its a dirty feeling I get checking the scores to see how I am doing.

In other news, I was supposed to have someone come and install Dish TV today, they called last night to make sure we would be home. We got up early and then they called to say that they had been shipped the wrong receivers and they were “fighting” with Dish to get the right items sent out. Bottom line: no one coming today. My brother in law had the same trouble, except that the guys turned up with the wrong box so we’ll see when, or if, I get to kick Time Warner to the kerb.
