Cool T-Shirts
Here’s a site for ordering some cool looking t-shirts: Threadless.com, courtesy of our friends at the Robot Shuffle Labs. There were too many designs available for me to really look at but I did buy a couple to check them out: Teddy Bear Loves Teddy Boy and Russell! Hows’ yer Ma!. Go check ’em out now whilst they are having a sale!
That Paris Hilton Commercial
Finally saw the Paris Hilton/Carl’s Jr ad on TV last night and I have to say Damn!. Its no wonder the moral ‘majority’ wants it taken off the air though I say to them get over it. Its hard to make the connection between a spicy bbq burger and a sexy car wash but it’s a nice change from seeing ads for female freshness and the like.
In case you haven’t seen it, you can watch it in its full uncensored glory at this link.
Now, where did I put the Paris Hilton sex video….
Run In With Plod
Coming back from the store last night, the turn into my street was blocked by a Brawley PD car facing towards me chatting to a guy in an SUV facing same way as me. Behind the SUV was another car and then me. Waited awhile for them to have their chat but it was several minutes before they cleared the road. As the PD car went by I raised my hands in an ‘at last’ type gesture, turned at the intersection and saw the cop car do a u-turn.
Got to my driveway, he pulls up and asks what my ‘smart-ass gesture’ was about. I pointed out that having a conversation and blocking the street was not a good thing and he said that the other driver was making a complaint. Right, people regularly smile and laugh when they are making complaints, and if true, why not pull over to one side and take the details or, here’s an idea, go to the police station and make it.
Anyway, he told me I had other options than just sit there (illegally reverse down the street, or mount the curb to get by) and left. I wanted to point out that not only did he stop traffic in the street to chat, he parked on the wrong side of the street to chew me out, and his cop car had no plates on it. But of course the laws only apply to the citizens of Brawley town, not law enforcement, so I backed down and away he went. I’m sure he was disappointed my Jeep was totally legal-looking.
I’m going to write a complaint, I’ll probably be harrassed for the next year 🙂
I Hate Microsoft
Its not because their products stink cos really they aren’t much worse than anything else, they get the job done with no frills etc. But I am tired of their attitude. They don’t innovate and so when something comes along that takes over the market they get all sulky and make grand statements proclaiming their competitors can’t last like these two this week:
The ipod is on the way out
Google to perish in five years
I think Gates and Ballmer see themselves as God-like, issuing sermons that the great public will just lap up and obey without reason. I’m dupming my iPod for a crappy cell phone, Bill Gates told me to! Rather than spin PR, I think the MS $ would be better spent making a better product that can compete with the incompetent companies like Apple and Google.
Poor Kylie!
Saw on the news today that my all time favourite star, Kylie Minogue, has breast cancer. Of course, we all wish her a speedy recovery.
The Heat is On
This weekend saw my first 100+ day in the Valley, I guess the summer is here already. My garden thermometer registered 111 at one point but I think it is not to be trusted. It is definitely heating up out there.
In other news, my home football team has to bid farewell to the Premiership Division after 25+ years. I was at the Dell when they were promoted is one of the few memories I have of anything more than a week ago. Hopefully they will get promoted again soon.
Single of the Week
Haven’t had one of these in a while, the tune that’s getting most time on my iPod right now is Natasha Bedingfield – I Bruise Easily. Only available on the UK store unfortunately so you’ll have to download it from somewhere else. Talking of which I read an interview with an iTunes exec recently which said they are looking into ways of opening up all the stores to everyone; they get a lot of complaints from people wanting to download music from other country’s stores. Well, from the UK store, anyway.
Premiership Mayhem
One more game left in the Premiership league and, most likely, the last one for a while for my home team, Southampton. As this analysis by the BBC shows, it doesn’t look good for the Saints. But I caught some of the game with Crystal Palace and, really, they are pretty crap this season and probably deserve it. And Portsmouth won’t be trying to do us any favours – they’ll probably field a team of boys and farm animals in order to lose and thereby condemn their south coast rivals.
