Anyway… this is much better, Will is giving this what it needs and so is Jessica, very passionate, sexy. Ok, i didn’t write much about this cos I liked it so much. My favourite of the evening so far.

I don’t like the short intro pieces, too many routines this week.

I don’t know what makes good hip hop but I don’t see these two hitting it like, say, Hawk in previous seasons. Courtney is giving it a go, not sure about Gev. I’m just not buying what they are selling. Damn, I didn’t mean for all my critiques to come off negative tonight.

Getting a Mia Michaels routine is so unfair, it’s like an extra point before you even start. Don’t like Katee’s new look, she is usually so darn cute, but hey this is dance. Plenty of energy, commitment to the dance, what we expect from a couple doing Mia. Some great jumps into lifts, Joshua is there for her but not really for me in this dance. Katee is awesome, as ever.

Score: 8/10.

My favourite and, arguably, my best dance when I competed. But that matters not in this competition!

Wow, Kherrington looks hot!! Twitch too, for that matter. Music is too fast for a paso, but its just an intro I suppose. Twitch needs more matador-like awareness, he’s the bullfighter dammit – where’s the bull? I love Kherrington and she’s doing a decent job but I don’t feel the tension of the bullfight, Angry stares do not tension make. And she’s the cape, she doesn’t get the right to be angry. Ugh.

Score: 7/10.

Ok, I have a problem, this music is a fantastic samba, so I am missing the face that they aren’t doing that dance instead. Not feeling the connection between them, or the conviction for that matter. I like the spins, wish I could spin like that, never did manage that. Huh, looked like they botched the ending.

Didn’t hate it.

Now this is choreography I can get into, I love this slow hip hop stuff that we’re seeing this season. Nicely synchronised, the occasional connection between them as partners. Is it good hip hop? I don’t know, but I’m enjoying it. Wasn’t in your face-excitement but did it for me.

Man, I love Tyce’ Broadway routines, though this is a little more mellow than usual. Not really feeling it from these two, I must say. Don’t know if it’s the choreography or the performance but I didn’t get much out of that. I thought Komfort did more than Thayne.

Score 6/10.

oops, it wasn’t Tyce, maybe that was the problem.

So.. Jive is about lightness and speed of feet, and down into the floor. Starting out of the gate well with some flicks but it has rapidly become slow and laboured. Jive is hard! In the ballroom world we dance it last after 4 other latin dances so it’s a real test of stamina. These two should be able to keep the energy going.

Great choreography from Tony and Melanie (whom I used to take coaching from in NY).

I keep threatening to do it, tonight I finally am! Keep tuned for my thoughts on each couple as they dance. Yeah, I can feel your excitement.

Yeah, I am still alive (as you would know if you follow my twittering), at least by the medical definitions. Some random stuff….

• ever since saying I was cutting back on food and alcohol it seems like I have vastly increased the amount of each I am consuming; this needs to stop
• my department at work is at the beginning of a big re-organisation with London taking all the power, which probably means layoffs. Am I at risk? I’d say somewhat. Maybe less than some, definitely more than others. Time will tell.
• was supposed to be going back to England for a couple of days for work but the changes have that on hold until the end of July, if at all
• the annual bonus is due July 3rd, am eyeing up purchases such as a Kindle for Teri, an iPhone for me, or perhaps Apple TV. Oh, and a Lear Jet if I’ve done really well
• summer is here in the Imperial Valley, last weekend saw 116F/47C, night temps are still down to the high 70’s though for now

Er, that’s it I guess. As you can see, nothing going on worthy of the electrons.
