Off to Mexico

without comments

I’m off on a little mini-cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, back Monday so the Roomba review will have to wait until next week. I’ll be installing my cams before I go so maybe I’ll get to capture some more intruder “babes” whilst I’m away. [Images are broken in that post as I’ve now moved them to here.]

To keep you from missing me too much, check out this great song by Mattafix, To and Fro:

A Terrible Confession

without comments

I am ashamed to admit this but, in the hope that confession is good for the soul, I want to say that I am hooked on this here piece of junk.

Single of the Week

without comments

No football today, and none tomorrow, suddenly my day seems a whole lot longer. What am I going to do when the tournament is over?! Anyway, this lull allows me to slip in a single of the week. Upcoming British star, Keisha White, performs a cover of Joan Armatrading’s The Weakness of Me. Just gorgeous.

Albums of the Month

without comments

Two cracking new albums in my iPod this month, very different from each other so something for everyone!

  • The Hardest Way to Make An Easy Living by The Streets. Mike Skinner returns with a new album full of innovative lyrics and another great story. If you haven’t already got A Grand Don’t Come For Free, start here and then go get it.
  • Royksop’s Night Out (Live EP) by Royksopp. A live CD from the Norwegian duo showcasing their own brand “of slow tempo” electronica. I love the girl’s voice and the melodies that support it. If you love this, be sure to check out Melody AM next.

Next month is the new album from Keane. After hearing their new single I am not sure it will be as good as Hopes and Fears but I have my fingers crossed.

Free CD of the Month – May

with 3 comments

It’s that time again, yesterday I received the form for my next free Sony CD. Once again I invite you to suggest something for me to order, it can be anything from the Sony catalogue. And, yes, I also invite the standard rootkit jokes and comments.

CD Of The Month – April

with 3 comments

One of the perks of the new job is that I can receive a free CD of my choice every month; any title from the Sony catalogue is up for grabs. I got my first form today and realised that choosing a CD is quite tough – how do I know which CD to get? The full catalogue is on the intranet in a PDF – its over 400 pages of tiny print long! By accident I stumbled upon the fact that Matisyahu is on Sony BMG so this month’s order is for his latest album, Youth.

Future months are going to be tough and so, dear reader, look out for requests for suggestions; the more interesting the better. Just remember it has to be on a Sony label….

Video iPod Tomorrow?

with one comment

Its been rumoured for a long time that Apple is going to celebrate its 30th anniversary on April 1st by announcing some cool new products. Maybe it will be the new Intel iBook or, as most people are salivating for, the true video iPod. Guess we will have to wait and see but I hope I have enough pennies in my pocket to buy one or, if not, maybe the current iPod will get a price reduction and I can replace the one that was stolen.

Single of the Week

without comments

Last week we had a Cha Cha and a Samba. In keeping with the ballroom theme, this week’s tune is a Rumba from 2001. When you think Rumba you don’t generally think of bands like the Clash, but here is Joe Strummer, and the Mescaleros, with Mondo Bongo, this week’s top tune at guapacha.com.

Single of the Week

Two singles this week and they’re both pretty mainstream. But I’ve picked them both for the same reason – they’ve taken a classic latin track and given it an up to date sound. Better still, each tune has retained the dance rhythm that made them classic in the first place, the samba and the cha cha respectively. I think if I was doing shows right now I’d choose them both to be in my display. To iTunes we go….
