Video of the Week
Yeah, so I’ve posted this everywhere but I just love it. Lucky Matt gets to sing with Rihanna and the poor boy looks like a deer stuck in the headlights when she comes out. He can’t decide if he can touch her or not…. Cute and hot all at the same time.
And where the hell does Rihanna get those legs from?
This Tune is To Die For
Been hearing this on BBC Radio 1 in the evenings and I just love it. I’ve always been a big fan of Massive Attack but this track is just heavenly: trip hop at it’s best. The track is called Paradise Circus and is on their forthcoming album Heligoland, out in February (in the UK at least).
This obviously isn’t the official video. You can find the official video at this link but be aware it is very NSFW, but very interesting if you can handle the content. Can’t wait for the album.
I promise there’ll be some “real” content soon, this isn’t supposed to be a video blog. That’s what my tumblr is for.
The UK Christmas #1 (not)
Maybe you’ve read about the campaign to stop X-Factor’s Joe McElderry from being the UK’s Christmas number 1, replacing it with Rage Against The Machine’s very angry anti-US racism expletive-laden “Killing in the Name. Maybe you’ve not?
Anywhoo, I’ve been hearing this a lot on Radio 1 over the last couple of weeks and I reckon this is the hands down winner for Christmas #1, except from what I understand it’s not even for sale. I present the excellent Mumford and Sons “Winter Winds”.
For comparison, here’s the X-Factor-manufactured pop contender:

I Have Arrived!
Since Feb 2008 I’ve uploaded 29 videos to YouTube. Most get 40-60 views, a few have over 100, one has over 400 but really I’m just a pimple on the buttocks of the video giant.
So imagine my surprise today when I got an email saying someone had uploaded a video response to one of my videos. And not a recent one, one from May of this year in fact. Some of you may remember my sad puppet tale of H1N1 in the house – some of you will have taken therapy or drugs to erase the memory.
But somehow, some way, somebody found my video and decided to waste 30 seconds of their life making a retort. Friends, I have arrived.

San Diego Zoo Video
My apartment in San Diego is quite close to the San Diego Zoo and now the zoo is open until 9pm at night, plenty of time to take a visit after work (we have annual passes). I took a trip and made a couple of videos, more to come over the summer.

On the Hoover Dam
Back from the MINI Vacation in Vegas, had a good time and will write something about it soon. In the meantime, here’s a short video clip taken on the Hoover Dam which we drove over on one of the outings.

The footage was remixed using the ‘Film Grain’ filter in iMovie ’09 for that 60’s look.
Video of the Week
This week, it’s a two-fer but don’t get too excited as they both from my own fair hand. Last weekend was the NAF El Centro Air Show and I filmed a ton of stuff which I am about half way through editing. At the time of shooting the footage I was getting frustrated with the camera as the auto-focus was too slow to capture all of the action but, when the Blue Angels are approaching at 450 mph, maybe even high end cameras can’t focus on the right thing that quickly either. Anyway, a lot of it didn’t come out half bad for a $220 camera.
First up today is a combo clip of two B-1 Bombers doing three fly-bys (though oddly one of the planes did only the first pass), and then a demonstration of the aerial capabilities of the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
Second is a very short clip of the C-130 aka “Fat Albert” which is the transport plane for the Blue Angels. Most of the video was out of focus so all I have is the takeoff and landing. Impressive performance!
You can find high def versions on my youtube account or vimeo account. Look for two or three more next week.
Video of the Week
Coming into work this morning, listening to BBC Radio 1 on my Sirius XM Radio I heard this tune that instantly reminded me of Wipeout HD for the PS3 which I am somewhat addicted to at lunchtimes. The music track in this recording is exactly what is played during menu selection in the game. The track is by Mason and is called Exceeder but in this version Princess Superstar has added some lyrics.

Imperial Valley Fair Video
Last weekend, Teri and I attended the California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds in Imperial, CA. It was a gloriously warm day and without the high winds that the fair always seems to attract. We checked out the exhibits and wandered around the animal barns and show rings. In previous years we’ve gone on an auction day but we were earlier this time, the animals and owners were still being judged and awarded ribbons.
I took my new camera along and shot some video. If you have 8 minutes to spare, here are the ‘highlights’:
